95 Avenue Renewal Project: Traffic and Access Impacts

The City of Edmonton has advised that construction on the 95 Avenue Renewal Project, from 163 Street to 170 Street, is expected to resume on April 20.

This work may affect traffic, transit, and pedestrian access near several Annunciation Catholic Elementary School, St. Thomas More Catholic Junior High School, and St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School. Families and staff are encouraged to allow extra travel time and follow posted signage in the area.

If you have questions or concerns about the road construction, please email 95Avenue@edmonton.ca

About the Project

The 95 Avenue Renewal Project is a multi-year City of Edmonton roadway and streetscape improvement initiative. Work continuing this year includes:

  • Road reconstruction along 95 Avenue from 163 Street to 170 Street
  • Replacement of sidewalks, curbs, and street lighting on the south side of 95 Avenue
  • Construction of a new shared-use pathway and raised pedestrian crossing near 167 Street
  • Removal of the service road on the south side of 95 Avenue between 165 Street and 170 Street, replaced with on-street parking bays and connector sidewalks
  • Tree removal where required, followed by new landscaping and tree replanting
  • Bus stop upgrades east of 167 Street
  • Installation of sustainable stormwater features, such as absorbent landscaping
  • Completion of landscaping work on the north side of 95 Avenue from last year’s construction
  • The City anticipates the project will be completed by the end of fall 2026.

Traffic, Transit, and Pedestrian Impacts

During construction, the following changes are expected:

  • ETS service will continue, but some bus stops may be temporarily closed while work is underway. Short-term schedule changes may occur. Families are encouraged to check the ETS Trip Planner or call BusLink at 780-496-1600 for current route information.
  • ETS Routes 7 and 915 will remain on 95 Avenue. Route 924 will be detoured to 163 Street.
  • School Special buses will pick up and drop off at 163 Street and 96A Avenue southbound. Schedules have been adjusted to account for the additional walking distance.
  • Single-lane traffic restrictions and detours will be in place at various times, potentially affecting vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian movement.
  • Temporary closures of 165 Street and 167 Street will be phased to maintain north-south access as much as possible.
  • Pedestrians may be required to cross to the opposite side of 95 Avenue. Please follow posted signage and use designated crossings.
  • Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
